Does the Canadian Callanetics program really work?

Well, the most amazing thing has happened! I began Callanetics
wanting to improve strength and flexibility. Both are much improved
and continue to progress as Rhonda is always introducing something new
and challenging. I also wanted a program for the long term: one
which will respectfully accommodate changing levels of fitness, age,
wellness. Now, much to my surprise, my changing level of fitness
(increased core strength) has totally changed the way I walk. My
stride is longer, more fluid, my posture straighter, and breathing
more even. Our Jack Russell loves it as more blocks continue to be
added – without even trying, we are covering more distance in lesser
amounts of time. (I know he thinks I will keep adding 10 block
increments but, really, we cannot be out walking all day!) I am
fortunate to be in a small class which, while allowing each to focus
on her own exercise, fosters a shared sense of determination and

The Callanetics classes I attend represent just a portion of my fitness regime but
have a really positive impact on my overall health and wellness; the
core strength I've gained allows me to push myself harder and longer
during more aggressive pursuits like skiing, kayaking, mountain
biking, and long distance swimming, and the stretching and
tension release provides the relief I need when I do. Further,
Rhonda appreciates the varied fitness levels of her students
and provides modifications for each exercise as you become
progressively stronger - a breath of fresh air from the "one size
fits all" approach to instruction many larger facilities will
provide!

I have been aware
of Callanetics and what it can do for you since the early 80’s. I
came across a book and did these exercises on my own with fabulous
results. I KNOW you can drop 2 sizes down without crash dieting.
Then early this year I found Rhonda’s website and decided to
participate. I have been coming to the Canadian Callanetics classes a
couple times a week since February as time permitted. I began to feel
the results in the way my pants fit within the first 6 weeks and all
over as I continue to attend. If you are tired and are seeking an
energizing workout through gentle, calm and relaxing postures this is
the workout for you. I encourage anyone who wants to increase their
flexibility and core strength to consider the Callanetics approach to
all over health and well being. I hope to see you there!

I recently started Callanetics and was very pleased with the improved
feeling of flexibility that I experienced after just a couple of weeks.
The stretching and exercises can be done at any level of fitness and
there is no pressure to reach another person’s goals. As I got stronger
and more competent, my confidence increased and I was able to set higher
goals. Rhonda is a patient and very capable instructor who takes the
time to make sure that the moves are done properly. I’m looking forward
to continuing these classes in the fall; it’s the most revitalizing
thing after a long day sitting behind a desk!
Betty, ...I am now exercising on a regular
basis and I actually enjoy it! Other programs I have tried were
either too difficult or they aggravated old injuries. The class
was easy enough for me to do from the beginning because I could work
at my own pace. As I become stronger and more flexible it can be
intensified to increase my workout and continue to challenge me.
Hendria - Increased
flexibility. Exercise but relaxing, not hot & sweaty or jumping.
Rachael - Rhonda has,
with this class, increased my flexibility and strength.
Diana - The stretching
feels great and my flexibility has improved greatly. The core
strengthening is hard but you feel and see the change. I look
forward to the classes and find myself doing some of the stretches at
work.
Longtime Student - middle age - Increased flexibility and mobility. Have lost 18 lbs over
the past year and lost many inches. Body is firmer and more
toned. Because this class is low impact, it does not create any
joint problems like aerobics.
Darlene - It may sound
silly, but simple things like being able to cut my toenails more
easily!

feels tighter after a class and I feel great! I notice I use my
thighs when sitting where I used to plop down!
Yen - My biggest benefit is that my back ache has
lessened!

After 7 classes only, I can feel the strength (even
muscle) I gained in my core. I've had lower back pain for about
a year and these classes with the stretching and strengthening, have
helped by lower back tremendously.
J. - Has been great for rehabbing and strengthening the hip and groin area.
Pearl - As a senior I find Callanetics to be an excellent
workout. It keeps me more flexible and agile without a whole lot
of pain.
Sandra - I'm stronger and
more toned now. I've gone to
classes tired and drained and come home with lots of energy. The
class is relaxing where you can go at your own pace.
